SUMMARY
The Business Development Executive will support the targeted growth of our business by generating and assisting in the proposal and support of closing small, mid-sized project opportunities as well as potential Agency of Record project opportunities, with support from Think Shift’s various subject matter experts, marketing and creative teams.
You’ll work closely with the sales team to build and execute various business development initiatives as outlined in the sales and marketing plan, that are designed to reach the department’s goals and objectives. Initiatives include but aren’t limited to research, CRM maintenance, proposal and pitch support, and ultimately helping the agency achieve its set revenue targets. As part of this role, you will also support marketing activities for the Think Shift brand that are directly connected to the sales and marketing team’s strategic plan for 2025 and beyond.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
60% Sales Support
- Support sales team by assisting in developing sales assets, proposals and presentations.
- Assist the sales team throughout the proposal and pitch process.
- Vet potential new clients to ensure “right fit” (i.e. alignment with culture, services and goals).
- Assist in the research of industry and market trends, account analysis, and prospect information.
- Be vigilant along the way about capturing customer data and interactions with all leads in our CRM.
- Maintain and build the sales dashboards and reporting needs.
- Develop plans and coordinate marketing opportunities at various industry and agency events.
- Manage memberships, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities within the industry.
- Provide the team with regular reports on new or on-going opportunities and various sales metrics.
- Develop industry specific knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading trade publications.
- Support new business opportunities as required.
40% Marketing Support
- Together with the Director of Business Development, assist in the development and execution of annual marketing and communication plans.
- Plan and coordinate meetings for content brainstorms, develop and manage the Think Shift marketing content calendar.
- Support the agency’s public relations and thought leadership efforts.
- Coordinate Think Shift-focused digital marketing campaigns by working with sales, creative and digital teams.
- Assist with the management of our marketing automation tool to send out newsletters.
- Collaborate with various teams to create case studies and award show entries highlighting top client work.
- Assist with the reporting on marketing campaign performance and subscriber content consumption.
- Assist with the monitoring of website performance and work with various teams for continued website optimization.
- Assist in developing a strong and engaging presence on social media.
- Manage budget and implementation of annual marketing and communication plans for the Think Shift brand.
We’re looking for
- Post-secondary education, preferably in marketing, commerce or agribusiness
- 2-3 years’ experience in a client services, sales or advertising role
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of B2B business development best practices and trends.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with emphasis on strong follow-through
- Highly proactive and self-motivated, yet able to take direction
- Strong project management abilities
- Agriculture industry experience is a strong asset
- Experience with HubSpot, MailChimp or other marketing automation platforms considered an asset
- Experience with Salesforce, Hubspot, Microsoft Dynamics, or other CRM considered an asset
